The selection of the correct clamping device is a dediciding factor of the operational efficiency and economics of production process. The superior and advanced RINGSPANN-technology provides practical solutions wherever the clamping and centering of cylindrical inner and outer surfaces is required.

A simple idea, transformed into logical reality, guarantees maximum clamping accuracy without any time-consuming adjustment. Result is a quick and reliable method even for difficult applications, like the clamping of short length registers or the clamping of thin-walled and distortionprone workpieces.

The Idea:

The basis of the RINGSPANN system is tthe RINGSPANN clamping disc, a conical ring made of hardened special steel. The characteristic slots give it a particularly high flexibility.

The axially exerted operating force effects an elastic change of the taper angle and therefore also the diameter of the clamping disc. The so-called RINGSPANN effect is of particular advantange in that the initial operating force is transformed without friction into a radial force 5 to 10 times greater which is used to clamp the workpiece. As the force applied is of uniform intensity around the whole circumference, it guarantees maximum clamping accuracy and permits the transmission of high torques even on workpieces prone to distortion.

At the same time the operating force causes a tilting movement of the clamping disc and force the workpiece against a longitudinal stop during clamping.
